Lyoto Machida has decided against a UFC 152 rematch with Jon Jones. Instead Dana White and the boys have decided to put up "The Phenom" Vitor Belfort in the Toronto main Event slot.

Despite the fact that he is an incredible striker with potentially the fastest hands in MMA, Belfort has not competed at 205 since 2007! That being said he has the explosiveness and aggressiveness to turn the lights out on anyone, this should be very exciting.

The question remains though, what was Lyoto Machida thinking turning down the title shot that he had just stolen away from "Shogun"?

"Bones" Causes another wreck!

What a day to start a new blog....Dana White has announced that UFC 151 has been cancelled.

Yesterday a rumour was being passed around that maybe Dan Henderson had a setback in camp, he released a statement saying he was "happy" and all seemed well again. That is until this morning when news broke that the UFC would be having a "major announcement". Typically, for myself at least, when the UFC makes such an announcement it usually leaves me underwhelmed but I reluctantly listened anyways and this news actually caught me off guard. Dana White, who is combustible at the best of times, let us know that not only did Dan Henderson have to back out due to a torn MCL but that when asked about taking a fight on short notice "Bones" refused to fight Chael Sonnen!!!! It was incredible to hear. It reminded me greatly of the press conference post Silva-Leites and Silva-Maia where Dana threatened to release "The Spider" for poor performances. Dana went as far as to call "Bones" a coward and Greg Jackson a "weirdo" and a "sport killer". I know Dana White often yells and screams but this conference struck a different level!

Let me state this first and foremost, Did the UFC need to cancel this show? No, they did not but it would have greatly resembled on paper the Calgary debacle.

 Did Jon Jones lose in the court of public opinion? Yes, this was a lesson for him, Dana White doesn't get beat in this forum. He spends all of his time either dealing with UFC people/issues or causing mass hysteria on twitter. He is a pro working these situations and Jon Jones has come off way worse then I could have ever imagined.

Did Jon Jones ruin his credibility among his peers? Whether he cares or not, what "Bones" has done here both hurt his marketability as well as diminished the respect he had with his peers. Refusing to fight a vastly inferior opponent a week after saying he would take whatever fight would make him the most cash makes him look, for lack of a better word, silly. It was a real eye opener especially after the tumultuous year he has had. I would have thought due to the DUI etc he would have been a good "company man" sucked it up and fought! Instead he continued to add to the shit storm coming in his direction. On top of that he indirectly took away income from a lot of guys that are in a different tax bracket than he is.

So let me ask these questions. Has the UFC entered uncharted territory? Will its "biggest" star be able to regain some of his lost luster? Can Lyoto Machida take the belt from Jones in Toronto? and if so what does the UFC do with a potentially diminishing asset in Jones?

There is a lot of intriguing questions that will have to be answered soon! I for one, cannot wait!
